FOX News/AP-- A New York man awaiting trial for having thousands of child pornography images was sentenced yesterday to 30 years in jail for the crime, but it's the murder of a mother and rape of her 10-year-old daughter while awaiting trial for he child pornography charges which has made national headlines.

While David Renz was awaiting trial on the child pornography charges, he was fitted with an ankle monitor and released. That's when he cut off the monitor and committed an act which has haunted the community since. Renz abducted school librarian Lori Bresnahan and her 10-year-old daughter in a mall parking lot and then took them to a remote area where he raped the girl. The mother was able to fight off Renz for a brief enough time to help her daughter escape the car, but was killed after being repeatedly stabbed to death.
