NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Voters may notice something unique on the May Primary Ballot. Out of 39 races, 19 of the registered candidates are women. Up for grabs are judge positions in Circuit, Chancery, General Sessions and Criminal Court. In 16 years on the bench Criminal Court Judge, Steve Dozier has presided over 400 trials. He has strong support among female voters. He says that support is important because many of the issues in criminal court involve domestic violence and other issues that heavily impact women. Experts say increasingly female voters and candidates are helping to shape the political landscape both local and national.
