Nashville, TENN-- A newly proposed bill would require all new businesses in downtown Nashville to build bike parking spaces.

If the bill passes, bikers will have two spaces to park their bicycles at new offices. In new education buildings, there must be a parking space for every classroom. Also, fast food and sit-down restaurants will have to set aside four spaces for bike parking.

The parking spaces must be in a convenient and visible area that is within 50 feet of the entrance of the building.

Metro Council members Walter Hunt, Peter Westerholm, and Burkley Allen are sponsoring this bill.
