NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Gun owners with a handgun carry permit might soon be allowed to legally take their weapons into any city or state park. A bill sponsored by Senator Stacey Campfield (R) Knoxville, would not only allow permit holders to carry guns in parks, it would prevent local governments from opting out. Metro Nashville and number of other cities opted out of a 2009 version of the "Guns In Parks" Bill. A new version of the bill would take away that option. On Friday, Metro Council Members Megan Barry and Jerry Maynard spoke out against the Bill and urged constituents opposed to the measure to contact their state lawmakers. Senator Campfield's bill has passed the Senate and is scheduled to be discussed in a House Subcommittee next week.
