BREAKING NEWS: One Killed in N. Nashville House Fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- An elderly man is killed after a house fire in north Nashville.

A best friend of the victim tells FOX 17 that a 63-year-old died in the fire. Fire officials believe the victim was trying to get out. They found him in the doorway of the bedroom.

The home at 1959 Cephas Street was fully engulfed when Nashville firefighters arrived just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.  The fire is under investigation, however, fire investigators are focusing on the kitchen area.

Fire officials say that the house did not have a permanent heating source.
The gas to the house was shut off. It is unknown at this time if space heaters were being used.
