Power Outage in La Vergne Prompts Opening of Shelters

Update: NES restored power at around 1:30 a.m. and closed the shelters. Power, however, went out again in the same area, according to the NES website at around 7 a.m., knocking out power to more than 1,400 total customers and 1,200 in La Vergne.

LA VERGNE, Tenn. -- Right now, three shelters are open in La Vergne due to a power outage, as middle Tennessee copes with a wind chill advisory.

Two shelters are open at city hall/police department at 5093 Murfreesboro Pike and one at fire station 3 at 301 Bill Stewart Boulevard.

About 200 NES customers are reported by NES in the Stones River Road/Forest Ridge Drive area late Monday/early Tuesday. No word when power will be restored. Crews have been dispatched.

Middle Tennessee Electric also hundreds to thousands of power outages overnight into the morning in areas of Murfreesboro and Franklin, as well as numerous scattered outages.
