Officer-Involved Crash Leaves Woman with Critical Injuries

HERMITAGE, Tenn. - Metro Police are investigating a crash that took place in the 5000 block of Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage today around 5pm. Police tell us an off duty Metro Police Officer was driving his unmarked police vehicle home when he was involved in the crash. We're told preliminary evidence and statements from 2 eye witnesses state the other vehicle ran a red light, turned left in front of the officer, and struck the SUV he was driving. Police say the woman driving the other vehicle was the only person in the car, and she was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital with life threatening injuries. The officer was not injured in the crash. Police tell us traffic investigators are on the scene completing their investigation.
