Franklin Farmers Market Bans Dogs

FRANKLIN, Tenn.-- Dog owners in Franklin who enjoy bringing their pooch to the Franklin Farmers Market will no longer be allowed to shop with their four-legged friends.

The Franklin Farmers Market board has decided dogs will no longer be allowed. Since the market began in 2002, customers have been allowed to bring their dogs with them, but a big increase in popularity and customers has equated to an increase in dogs as well.

We love dogs, said Lisa Tidwell, Creative Services Director for the market. But when you have that many people with a lot of dogs trying to move around in a tight space, it can really create some big problems.

The decision was finalized after a customer survey and evaluation by health officials.
