Tenn. Invests $2M in Kipp Nashville for Expansion

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Kipp Academy, one of Nashville's charter schools, is getting $2 million to help Nashville kids in the classroom. The Charter School Growth Fund awarded the prize this week. Kipp Academy has about 450 students, predominantly from East and North Nashville. Executive Director Randy Dowell says the money will be an investment in the infrastructure and future growth of the charter school. Kipp Academy plans to open a new elementary school in Nashville next school year. The Metro School Board approved the addition of a Kipp High School that will open in 2015.
