GREENBRIER, Tenn. - A strong show of support at Greenbrier City Hall for that city's embattled Mayor. More than 100 people took a stand in an administrative meeting, most in support of longtime Mayor Billy Wilson, who was arrested last month by TBI. Mayor Wilson is accused of theft and official misconduct for allegedly taking money from Toys for Tots, but an overwhelming majority says he's innocent until proven guilty. That was the overwhelming theme for many who took the podium before the meeting began around 7pm. On the agenda, 2 resolutions being proposed. If passed, one would place Mayor Wilson on administrative leave from his position as Volunteer Fire Chief. The 2nd would amend municipal code, stripping the mayor of some of his powers and duties, and reassigning them to the Vice Mayor. The topic sparked heated discussion among residents. The Aldermen's decision left the Mayor's family in tears. It was a unanimous vote for a resolution to strip the Mayor of his city powers and duties.

The decision to place him on administrative leave from the fire department only had one vote against it. If both of these pass upon 2nd reading, they would become law at the 1st of the year. A lot of people in the meeting left there disgusted with their city leaders.
