BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing used a cruise for heroes to propose to the nurse he fell in love with while beginning his road to recovery at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

James Bim took to Facebook this week to announce his engagement to Krista D'Agostino. Bim proposed to D'Agostino while the pair were on the Boston Marathon Heroes Cruise for 114 of the Marathon survivors. The cruise through the south of France was sponsored by Vantage Deluxe World Travel.

Bim writes April 15 was one of the worst days of his life, suffering both physical and emotional injuries. A couple of weeks after the attacks, he was transferred to Spaulding where he joined his friends in the rehabilitation process.

Wondering what good could come of the tragedy, he soon saw a nurse in passing that would turn out to be Krista. The pair had mutual friends, but never met prior to James' stay at Spaulding. James and Krista shared a few conversations before attending a benefit together. The benefit turned into a few dates, which James says turned into a "few inseparable months."

Bim says after eight months, they got engaged in the French city of Lyon.

"I now realized why I was involved in the tragedy, it was to meet my best friend, and the love of my life," writes Bim.

The Boston Marathon Heroes Cruise began Dec. 11 and is scheduled to run through Dec. 21.
