NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Lipscomb University has some proud new graduates. It took seven years, but nine women who began their studies in 2007 received an Associates of Arts Degree on Friday. The students took one class per semester while behind bars at the Tennessee Prison for Women. The University spared no grandeur, dressing in full graduation regalia to award the inmates their degrees. Many of the inmates say the experience has been life changing and they're looking forward to continuing their education when Lipscomb begins a bachelor's degree program at the prison in January.
