Country Singers Get Personal in "Country Faith"

NASHVILLE, TN - - Christianity and country have always had a connection. "Brad Paisley puts a gospel song on all albums, Trisha Yearwood puts a scripture in liner notes of each album. Loretta Lynn has done it and Alan Jackson has released two collections."

Deborah Evans Price has been a writer in the country and christian music market for 30 years and has combined the two in a new book and accompanying cd called "Country Faith". "The basic question we ask is what is your favorite scripture and why. We gave the option of doing an interview and then I write it, or write it all themselves and email it to me. The majority were interviews." says Price.

About 150 artists submitted. They selected 56. There are plenty of new names in country music inside the book, who ponder what faith means to them. "Carrie Underwood talks about her favorite verse that speaks about nothing separates us from love of God.  Miranda Lambert immediately knew her verse. She didn't think about it and call me back. She new a verse in Proverbs was her favorite. Florida Georgia Line talked about the scriptures parents raised them up with" says Price.
Of course encouraging messages from legends also fill these pages, like Charlie Daniels who shared why Psalm 91 is his go to verse. "He told me about being in Iraq. They were in helicopter heading to a location and came under enemy fire. He talked about reciting that verse in Psalms and feeling peace. Talk about faith in action" she says.

Deborah says whether this book a gift to yourself, or to a loved one this holiday season, she hopes it encourages people to get closer to God's word. "The messages in this book are things people are gonna wanna hear. They make you feel good."
