FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Police in Franklin say they cracked a shoplifting ring with ties to another Middle Tennessee City. Franklin Police Flex Unit officers assigned to the Galleria spotted the suspect vehicle that had been featured in an earlier shoplifting suspect bulletin by Mt. Juliet Police. After stopping the vehicle, we're told officers determined that the two occupants were part of a larger shoplifting ring, and had been instructed to drop the vehicle off in Franklin where it would be later picked up by the ringleader. Police say undercover officers set up on that vehicle, and arrested 30-year-old Courtney Brown of Madison after he showed up to get the vehicle loaded with $715 worth of stolen merchandise. Police say Brown, charged with Felony Theft, was also found to be in possession of marijuana, crack cocaine, and Xanax. We're told he remains in custody on theft and drug charges at the Williamson County Jail on a $25,000 bond.  Police say Brown is a convicted felon who was out of jail on probation at the time of this arrest.
