NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A West Nashville man is turning tragedy into positivity this Christmas season.

Families drove from all over Middle Tennessee to see Johnny Richardsons a massive Christmas lights display in his Bellevue Manor Drive home.

Richardson is dressed as Santa, handed out candy canes and waved at the dozens of people that came to see the display that features hundreds of thousands of bulbs and a 53-foot tree.

It's a bright and festive celebration of the holiday season , but unfortunately, things in this quiet Bellevue subdivision haven't always been so happy.

In May 2010 more than 7 feet of water flooded Richardsons home.  A few months later Richardsons wife died.

Instead of dwelling on the negative, Richardson puts his energy in the tradition he shared with his wife, making others happy through Christmas lights.

"Lifes a struggle, Richardson said.  You go through it, you can't let it get you down and these lights right here, just putting a smile on somebody's face, just means everything in the world.

Richardson says the lights will be up every night until Saturday.
