Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee cities and counties are doing their best to prepare for the winter weather. Icy weather is particularly difficult to prepare for because it not only makes the roads slick, but it often causes widespread power outages. During an ice storm you often get layers of ice freezing on trees and power lines. When all that ice accumulates, it can spell big trouble for local utility companies. It's one reason Nashville Electric Service has been so aggressive in its tree trimming efforts. NES says its crews will be standing by over the weekend, ready to tackle downed trees or power lines.
