Conditions in Christian Co. Don't Seem Bad, No Moisture Falling

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

HOPKINSVILLE, Kentucky - Conditions in Christian County don't seem bad right now because there is no moisture falling, but the ground is a different story. Roads are slick and there are even power outages in surrounding counties because of ice built up on power lines. Earlier today when sleet and freezing rain was coming down, there were more power outages in Christian and Trigg Counties, but power was restored by Pennyrile Electric. Now, with power outages, many people are using generators. The Christian County Emergency Manager says that if you do use one, make sure it's at least 10-20ft away from your home and be safe and keep an eye on space heaters. The sleet and freezing rain also caused issues earlier today. More than a dozen accidents with some minor injuries and more than 40 non-injury accidents occurred just in Christian County, with dozens more in Trigg County. If you do need to get out and drive, make sure you go slow and leave plenty of time to get where you are going because there is black ice on the roads.
