Freeze Warning, Cumberland Plateau Advisory

Winter-like conditions will be possible for middle Tennessee this weekend. A freeze warning is in effect for Friday and Saturday night. Temperatures will drop to around the freezing mark in Nashville and upper 20s outside the metro area. Saturday night will be even colder with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-20s outside the metro. Breezy NW winds will add to the chill. In addition to the cold, rain showers along the Cumberland Plateau will change over to light snow overnight.

OEM Issues Wintry Weather Advisory

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Metro Office of Emergency Management has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Middle-Tennessee areas to the west, including Cheatham County. 

Starting Thursday, moderate to heavy rain with possible localized flooding is expected. On Friday, freezing rain and sleet is expected during the day, continuing into Friday night. Ice accumulation is possible for exposed surfaces Friday evening through Saturday. 

The OEM reminds residents to take extra precautions driving in snowy or icy conditions. 

These include:

--Minimize Driving

--Have a disaster kit available in the vehicle

--Keep the windshield clean

--Decrease speed and Give plenty of room to stop

--Use extreme caution on bridges and overpasses 

--Break gently to avoid skidding

--Have lights on during snow
