Christmas Day Popular For Movies - Sky Arnold

We don't think of soda and popcorn as a holiday meal but maybe we should.

Christmas Day is often among the busiest days of the year for movie theaters.

Chris Surrattt's family was among many taking part in the tradition this year.

"Pretty much the only thing to do on Christmas is go see a movie cause restaurants aren't open," said Surratt.

Surtax's family saw the Hobbit at the Regal Green Hills Theater.

That movie was released several weeks ago but still some showings were sold out.

Other movies like the Wolf of Wall Street and Grudge Match were actually released December 25th.

Going to a movie on Christmas is a new experience for Sandra Pagel.

Usually she's cooking or cleaning but this year another family member volunteered to do those jobs.

"It's tremendous to sit down relax watch a good movie and not have to worry.  This is the first time I don't have to worry," said Pagel.
