Attorney in Vandy Rape Case Arrested - Erika Lathon

Attorney Fletcher Long was arrested on harassment charges Tuesday. A former employee at his law firm, Christie Overstreet Hill accused Long of harassment that included threatening text messages. Long spoke with Fox 17 News after his release from the Montgomery County Jail in Clarksville. Long said, "I did not send those text messages. First of all you're assuming them cam off of my phone and I don't know that's an assumption that's fair to make." Long is one of four attorneys representing former Vanderbilt Football player, Brandon Vandenburg in a rape case. Long says his legal problems won't impact his work in the Vandenburg case. Christie Overstreet Hill responded in an emailed statement. "I wanted to walk away from that firm quietly. I didn't need Mr. Long and I didn't need 15 minutes of fame. But, someone can be bullied and intimidated for so long before they fight back. When my child was brought into the picture, I had no choice." Christie's was granted a temporary order of protection for her and her seven year old son. A hearing next week could determine whether that order or protection remains in place.
