Tenn. Leads the Nation in Cell Phone-Related Fatal Crashes

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with TN Mornings at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A recent National Safety Council study says Tennessee reported 93 cell phone related fatal crashes in 2011. That's more than 10 times the amount in Kentucky, and more than 4 times as many as California, a state with a population 6 times larger. Tennessee's Governor's Highway Safety Office says Tennessee Leads the nation, and they're working to battle a growing problem. Tuesday night FOX17 NEWS will introduce you to a family who lost their son to distracted driving, and you'll learn what the state says is the real reason behind the high number of distracted driving deaths.
