Men Who Attempt to Steal Nashville Bank ATM Arrested

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Two men are in jail after attempting to steal an ATM in Nashville.

Kevin Sowell, 20 and Carlos Murillo of Nashville are in the Davidson County Jail for aggravated assault on police officers, auto theft, theft and evading arrest, according to police for the Sunday morning incident. They spotted the suspects minutes after they attempted to take the ATM from Suntrust Bank at the 2500 block of McGavock Pike.

Sowell and Murillo stole a pickup truck from a business on Kline Avenue and drove it through a fence. They then stole a trailer in Donelson. They drove the pickup into the ATM, but were unable to take it from the building.

Sowell and Murillo rammed two police cars when police attempted a traffic stop. The officers received minor injuries.

Police followed Sowell and Murillo to Briley Parkway at Murfreesboro Road, and put down spike strips. When the suspects began driving the wrong way, police stopped pursuing.

Sowell and Murillo bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot. Both were apprehended.

Sowell also faces charges of DUI, driving on a revoked license and drug possession.
