NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- One woman is beaten in a violent robbery attempt in south Nashville on Thanksgiving.

A man approaches two women at the Bradford Woods apartments on the 5000 block of Edmondson Pike Thursday night as they pull in and demands their belongings, according to Metro Police. He beats one of the women with his fists when she says that they do not have anything.

A tow-truck driver witnessed the incident and intervened. The suspect then attacked him.

The suspect left in a car and crashed into a car at the WalMart at the 4000 block of Nolensville Pk., when spotted by Metro police. Police held them at gunpoint, but the suspect ran and hid. He was quickly located in some bushes at the Padoda Apartments nearby on Welch Road.

The victims came out and positively identified the suspect as the man who assaulted and robbed them. He has been identified by police as 23-year-old Samuel Martinez. Martinez is in the Davidson County Jail on $80,000 bond.

There was a second suspect in the car, but no information is available on that person.
