Freeze Warning, Cumberland Plateau Advisory

Winter-like conditions will be possible for middle Tennessee this weekend. A freeze warning is in effect for Friday and Saturday night. Temperatures will drop to around the freezing mark in Nashville and upper 20s outside the metro area. Saturday night will be even colder with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-20s outside the metro. Breezy NW winds will add to the chill. In addition to the cold, rain showers along the Cumberland Plateau will change over to light snow overnight.

Kids Count Report: Tenn. Ranks 39th in the Nation for Well-Being of its Children

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - If Tennessee children hope to succeed, the key may be their early years. That's the message tonight from the State Commission on Children and Youth. According to the Kids Count report, Tennessee ranks 39th in the nation for the well-being of its children. Those rankings are based on factors like education, health, and economic factors. Today, a panel discussion focused on the importance of helping kids during their first 8 years. Tennessee's Kids Count ranking went down from 36 to 39 over the last year.
