Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.-- The Murfreesboro City Council will consider extending the city's red-light-camera contract for another year during tonight's meeting at City Hall.

The contract -currently slated to expire Nov. 30th- would extend until November 30th of 2014 if approved.

Part of the lure in extending the contract is revenue as well as safety. According to Assistant City Manager Jim Crumley, the city received $1,114,365 in fines for the 2013 fiscal year. ATS, the company which has been contracted for the cameras, charges $883,814 for the year. The result is a net of $230,551 goint to the city.
