FAIRVIEW, TN - A male horse is found mutilated and killed and more details continue to unfold as the search heats up for those responsible.

Patches of skin and hair were cut from the horse.

But that's not the only painful thing the horse's owner discovered.

To make matters worse, we're told this isn't the first time the horse has been tortured.

The horse known as Bomber had been Terry MacIlvain's companion for more than 20-years.

He and MacIlvain's wife's horse, Fahlderito, were hardly ever apart in this quiet field next to their Fairview home.

At 26-years old, MacIlvain says Bomber was still strong but gentle.

He worries Bomber died a very painful death.

Patches of flesh were removed from each side of Bomber's rump.

His left ear was cut off and there was damage to his genital area.

Bomber was found tangled in the electric fence.

But it's hard to tell exactly what happened late Friday night before Bomber's body was found Saturday morning.

These motion-activated surveillance cameras used to hang in the trees near where bomber was killed.

MacIlvain says he put them there in 2011 when someone started sneaking on their property and braiding the horses' manes with thorns in a way that caused them pain.

The most recent case of that happened just last weekend.

But the cameras were knocked down before hand or covered up.

MacIlvain says some of Bomber's body parts like his ear and the flesh could have been taken by the killer as trophies.

MacIlvain and his wife are offering a thousand dollar reward to anyone with information. There is a reward fund set up at First Bank in Fairview called "Justice for Bomber." The bank alerted other branches in middle Tennessee about the fund.
