NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The safety of your children is in question tonight after a state audit reveals more than 1/3 of Tennessee's school buses haven't been properly inspected. The Safety Department is supposed to inspect buses and child care vans at least once every 12 months. School systems can't legally use vehicles that haven't been inspected, but records show thousands of inspections were conducted more than a year late. The Safety Department says it's working on a new master bus list, but only has 13 inspectors for more than 9500 vehicles.
