PORTLAND, Tenn.--Portland Fire Hall lost the majority of its roof tonight around 7:30 during a storm.

Crews are working to patch damage at the Highway109 facility after storms rolled through. Winds were reportedly in the 60 mph range.

The fire hall is next to the police department, but the police department was not impacted. The roof was scattered along Reed Street behind the fire hall. The tin roof debris was spread across residential yards, hit homes, and damaged cars.  Fire chief Al West says about nine homes are impacted, but no injuries are reported .

Emergency services are working to clean up the debris and street and find shelter for families affected. Most of Northern Portland lost power when the storm hit, but power was turned back a couple of hours later. Power remains out on Reed street.

The Sumner County Emergency Agency says the National Weather Service will be out tomorrow to assess the damage and determine if it was a tornado or just strong winds that hit the fire hall.
