NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A suspect in a south Nashville carjacking overnight eludes police after a pursuit.

The two female victims were at the Delta Express at the 300 block of Harding Place when a man with a knife came up and ordered the woman pumping gas into the car just before 1 a.m. That woman, according to Metro Police, told the other woman to get out and the suspect got in and took off.

A pursuit ensued when police spotted the stolen vehicle and the suspect refused to stop. Police terminated the pursuit when it reached high speeds.

Police again spotted the car minutes later after the suspect wrecked and ran off on foot at the 5100 block of Linbar Avenue. A K9 track was unsuccessful.

There is only a vague description of the suspect.
