Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

Nashville, TN - The streets of downtown were flooded with pink today.

Thousands took to the pavement for the annual Making Strides 5K, raising money and support in the fight against breast cancer.

Dancing, singing and cheering at an event that serves as a cheerleader itself.

In this sea of pink, it seems everyone has a close tie to the disease that has proven to be so deadly.

Elaine Frey has survived breast cancer but her best friend isn't so lucky.

Another walker, Monica McGill is walking in memory of her mother who died less than 4-years ago.

An event that's known to support survivors and those fighting the disease is a huge comfort for caretakers and those who have lost loved ones.

In their pink shirts, tutu's and head pieces, even family members coloring their hair pink.

It's a color and an event that requires a year of planning, more than 300-volunteers and staff members and a sea of support.

Fox 17's Stacy Case emceed the event.

We're happy to report now more than 570-thousand dollars was raised, exceeding today's goal.
