NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Christmas is here early for those selling one of the hottest items of the year, the Xbox One. Stores like Best Buy and GameStop opened their doors at 12:01 a.m. to customers wanting the item as quick as they could get it.
The $499 price tag isn't stopping people from purchasing the expensive gaming device. Best Buy expects to sell all of their units. The consoles sold out on Amazon yesterday morning.
There were global launch celebrations with millions of fans participating. Mackelemore and Ryan Lewis helped 1,000 fans count down to midnight with a performance at Best Buy Theater in Times Square.
The new $399 Playstation 4 went on sale November 15. It had the most successful launch to date for the video game console, as the company sold more than one million units in the first 24 hours in pre-orders, FOX News reports. Sony hopes to sell three million PlayStation 4 units by the end of this year.
