SNAP Benefits Will Be Cut for All Participants in November

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Come Friday, going to the grocery store might be harder for those relying on food stamps. Food stamp recipients, on average, can expect to lose about 5% of their monthly allowance. The government's SNAP program is losing funding from the economic stimulus package. The funding boost expires November 1. The program will lose about $39 billion over the next 10 years. That's translating into tighter budgets at the grocery store, with many of the recipients getting less than $5 a day. All this week, several community outreach groups are helping those affected prepare for the cuts.
