State Officials Settle on New Lethal Injection Drug

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - An update tonight on Tennessee's effort to resume executions. The state will now use the same drug used to euthanize pets. The state temporarily halted executions after the feds seized the supply of sodium thiopental in 2011. They were concerned about how Tennessee got the drug. Now they'll use a deadly injection of pentobarbital. This method faces court challenges in 2 states. Tennessee's first execution using pentobarbital is set for 2014.
