In a collaborative effort between Harvard University and MIT, the self-folding robot could be as big as drones soon.

Its inventors' goal is to make something to assist search and rescue missions.

Something capable of squeezing into tiny crevices, and then self-assemble into a full-sized "eyes and ears" that rescuers can be control from afar.

Perfect for scouting out the inside of collapsed mines and other disasters.

Made from composite paper and Shrinky Dinks, or plastic sheets that shrink on baking, right now it costs about a hundred dollars for the raw materials.

Though researchers are working to build something more rugged, that could take a better beating, and support more weight.
