GM could have us saying buckle-up or stall-out if its seat belt interlock system catches on.

The automaker plans to begin testing an update of the now 40 year old technology, abandoned after buyers complained of government regulatory excess.

The idea is simple.

Your car won't start unless you're wearing your seat-belt, which the NHTSA says could save more than 12,000 lives every year.

Select 2015 models are scheduled to include the feature.
