Med School Student Auctions Virginity

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

Med school student Elizabeth Raine has become the center of debate surrounding her decision to "auction" off her virginity.

The 27-year-old admits money is her primary motivation and says she has been planning this for over a year after first reading about a woman who auctioned her virginity in 2008 and saw the amount of many people were willing to bid.
Raine says she have received bids over $550,000 and in order to avoid any criminal prostitution charges, the "event" will take place in Australia, where prostitution is legal.

Raine (not her real name), told the Huffington Post she finally revealed her identity because she didn't want it to be mistaken for shame. In fact, she states on her site she believes auctioning her virginity is a form of social rebellion and believes it's "utterly practical."
