New York--

Sparking debate this morning, a New York lawmaker wants parents to go to class with their kids and if they don't, their kids would be held back.

Senator Ruben Diaz wants the state education department to come up with a dozen classes focused on kids learning in school and struggles they deal with away from home.

Parents would be required to go to at least four classes before the student gets out of sixth grade or else they'd fail.

While some parents think it's a good idea, they say it's hard, especially if they both work full-time.

Diaz is also proposing employers give parents a mandatory paid day off to get to a class.

Diaz believes parents need to know what changes their kids are going through in and out of the classroom.
