Seattle, WA

A pizzeria is hoping they will get a lot less calls after American Idol tonight. Last Wednesday the phone was ringing off the hook, not because of pizza orders, but because American Idol fans were calling in trying to vote for their favorite singer.

American Idol says 71 million viewer votes were cast last week for contestants, but many of those fans dialed the wrong number and were routed to Gordy's Pizza and Pasta. "Hundreds if not thousands, I don't know as often as you could call, make contact, let it go, the phone didn't stop ringing for two hours," said Randy Sexton, restaurant owner.

American Idol says all those fan had to have dialed the wrong prefix and suffix when punching in the numbers. Sexton told his staff to roll with it and treat every wrong number like a customer.

Sexton says he isn't sure how much business the busy phone lines cost him.
