Livingston, Texas--

A mother says her son made an honest mistake while packing his school lunch bag and now it is costing him big time.

Christi Seale says her 17-year-old son, Chaz, accidentally confused a beer can for soda when packing his lunch.

When he realized his mistake at school, Chaz gave the unopened beer to his teacher, but that teacher reported it to the Principal.

The Principal suspended Chaz for three days and sent him to an alternative school for two months.

The school says it followed appropriate protocol.

Seale says she is appealing the decision and is hoping to get her son's punishment reduced.
