Bullying Injuries Land Kids in ER

Tens of thousands of children are winding up in the Emergency Room because of injuries from bullying.

Each year, "intentional" school violence lands 90,000 kids in the ER, according to a recent study published in pediatrics.

Cuts and bruises make up 40 percent of injuries. Fractures account for 12 percent. Brain injuries make up 10 percent and sprains make up seven percent.

Youth experts say the new numbers show there is a lot of violence going on at school outside of sports.
One of the co-authors of the study says that number could actually be higher because some kids may not be reporting their injuries.

During the study period, a total of 7,397, 301 injuries occurred at school, of which 736,014 were intentional.
