The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Alterraun Verner to a lucrative free-agent contract recently.  They like what he does on the football field.

He's not bad in the classroom either.  Call him "book smart" too - majoring in Mathematics and Applied Science at UCLA.

Thursday, Verner went back to school.

Verner visiting with children at Nashville's Napier Elementary School, then giving away books to encourage reading and learning.

A nice gesture by the former Titans' cornerback, who says he very well could have stayed in "two-toned blue" and that Tennessee had every chance in the world to re-sign him.

Oh what could have been?  Verner really likes Bucs coach Lovie Smith though, and he says it's hard to argue with the weather in Florida.
