Oatsvall late TD pushes Brentwood Academy past MBA, 42-38

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Jeremiah Oatsvall scored on a 6-yard run with 25 seconds left, and Brentwood Academy knocked off Montgomery Bell Academy 42-38 in a back-and-forth shootout Thursday night in the Tennessee Division II-AA championship at Tennessee Tech.

Oatsvall - named the offensive Most Valuable Player - finished 23-of-30 passing for 356 yards and three touchdowns, and ran 11 times for 142 yards and a score.

The Eagles (10-2) broke the championship game record with 633 yards of offense, topping the previous mark of 603 by Ezell-Harding in 2001 against Cloudland.

Thursday's game was a rematch of last year's championship, which BA won 56-55 in double-overtime. The Nashville-area teams also met during the regular season this year, with MBA winning 31-24.

Ty Chandler led the Big Red (10-3) with 31 carries for 218 yards and three touchdowns. His 4-yard run with 2:05 remaining put MBA ahead 38-34.

MBA's Nick German - the game's defensive MVP - tallied 10 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
