•  MEET THE FOX 17 NEWS TEAM

Laura Faber
Anchor/Reporter
I'm as close to becoming a native of Tennessee as you can get! I've been in Nashville for 18 years and I've been anchoring and reporting for FOX 17 News for more than a decade, since 1997.  I was honored with an Emmy Award this year for our coverage of St.Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.  I'm proud of another Emmy won for our coverage of the May 1996 tornado that hit Middle Tennessee. I was also awarded a Tennessee A.P. award for coverage of New Orleans post-Katrina, and how Middle
Tennesseans help that city re-build.  My previous TV experience includes reporting and anchoring at another Nashville station, Phoenix, AZ., Rochester, MN., and LaCrosse, WI.  I've been happily married since 1993. My husband and I have two beautiful girls...they are the lights of our lives. We also have two very old Labrador retrievers, who are much loved members of our family.
I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Telecommunications. I'm from the Detroit area, but after marrying a southerner, I'll never live in the North again! I love the news business and telling stories, and in my free time .. spending time with my family, movies, eating out, power walking, hiking, tennis, reading, art fairs, and Broadway shows. But most of all -- sleeping, though I never get enough. One thing most people don't know about me...I'm a wedding singer. I've sung in several of my friends wedding ceremonies.
If you have a story to tell me about, email me at lfaber@fox17.com,
I'm always looking for good story ideas.

Nick Paranjape
Morning News Anchor/Reporter
I'm very excited to be back in Middle Tennessee .. the place I call home. I grew up in Murfreesboro and attended MTSU. My parents, sister and many friends still live there and it is great to be back with them. I am thrilled to be a part of the FOX 17 news team. I'm working with true professionals who happen to be great people. I think we really have something special here.

Speaking of special, my wife Lori and I have two wonderful children, Ava and Max. We enjoy spending lots of "family time" together. Lori and I also like to catch a movie whenever possible, spend time with friends, find a good place to eat, and watch our reality shows together. C'mon, I work for FOX...home of American Idol!

Before Nashville, I worked in Tupelo, MS, Jackson, TN, Knoxville and Memphis.. so I know quite a bit about Tennessee. I've covered news and sports on both ends of the state. I'm excited about reporting here and anchoring a new morning newscast, bringing midstate viewers stories that affect them and their families.

Thanks for watching FOX 17 Morning News. Feel free to email me at nparanjape@fox17.com.

Paul Jones
Sports Director
Paul Jones has been with FOX 17 News for just over five years. In the past year, Paul has covered everything from the Titans and Tennessee to Vandy and tee-ball. His sportscasts have been honored by his peers. He's a three-time Emmy winner, including winning this year for "Best Sportscast" in the Mid-South. That's no small feat considering other stations across Tennessee, North Carolina and parts of Alabama. Paul works hard each day to bring FOX 17 Sports viewers stories they won't see elsewhere. Before coming to Nashville, Paul worked in Indianapolis for two stations there. His first on-air experience job was in Lubbock, Texas. Prior to that, he spent seven years as a sports producer in Washington D.C. Over the years, Paul has covered many teams and stories -- and he always prefers good "people stories."
If you know of a good sports story, let Paul know! Contact him by e-mail at pjones@fox17.com or by phone (615-369-5562).

Arch Kennedy

Sarah Bishop
Weekend Anchor
I am glad to be a part of the Fox 17 news team. There's such an exciting energy in Music City and the hospitality is second to none. As a cowgirl myself, I couldn't be happier to move to Music City USA. I'm a third generation wild west show performer. My parents, brother and sister also perform a variety of acts including trick riding and roman riding. My grandfather started our wild west show in 1912 after seeing one of Buffalo Bill's Wild West shows and our version of that, has been carried on ever since.
I graduated from Principia College with a double major in mass communications and history, studying journalism further at UCLA. Over my career, I've worked in Spokane, Washington, Niagara Falls, Grand Junction, Colorado and Buffalo. In college I was an honorable mention All-American basketball player and enjoyed playing on the soccer team as well. These days, I enjoy running and horseback riding, and watching sports, particularly hockey. Email Sarah at sbishop@fox17.com.

Flint Adam
Weekend Weather
It doesn't get much sweeter than the south... especially when there's a homecoming! I grew up near Atlanta and graduated from Georgia State University... but my career began out west. My first job was in chilly Casper, Wyoming, from there on to sizzling Palm Springs and then to Nashville and FOX 17. I'm thankful for the places I've lived and the people I've met... but the south is where my heart is. I am very excited to be in Middle Tennessee.
I love reporting and am intrigued by weather. You'll see me filling both roles at FOX 17. I've always wanted to storm-chase, and I know this is tornado country... sounds like a good match!
I'm a die hard Atlanta Braves and Falcons fan. My hobbies include playing the guitar, photography, reading, creative writing, hiking, cooking, wine-tasting, playing sports, watching movies and listening to good music. I love making new friends and exploring new towns! Maybe you'll bump into me on the streets of Nashville. If so, say "hey!" I'll enjoy meeting you!
If you'd like to contact me about a story, email me at fadam@fox17.com.

Dave Foster

A 1989 graduate of Franklin High School, Dave also attended several Davidson County schools from kindergarten through 8th grade. (Go J.T. Moore Jr. High School Matadors!) He started anchoring sports at Fox 17 in February 2007. Before returning to the anchor desk, Dave worked for over a year in the newsroom at the assignment desk, helping to coordinate news coverage.
Prior to FOX 17, Dave worked in sports in Marshall, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. He's is a 1993 graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, with a Bachelors degree in Communications. He loves the SEC, (especially football) and is thrilled about having the chance to cover it once again. (He found it tough in Louisiana being surrounded by so many LSU fans.)
In his spare time, Dave enjoys watching sports, spending time with his family, and playing Texas Hold Em.
If you'd like to ask him about his passion for poker or anything sports-related, email Dave at dfoster@fox17.com.

Dan Phillips
Sports Photographer/Reporter
First, of all let me say how excited I am to be in the Music City! I came here from just up the road in Paducah, KY where I was the Weekend Sports Anchor at WPSD-TV for nearly 6 years. I've also worked in Michigan and North Carolina. I guess you could say TV's taken me all over but I'm very happy to be here in Middle Tennessee.
I must confess.. I'm a sports nut. I like watching and playing nearly all sports. Having grown up in East Lansing, Michigan, Michigan State's my team. I have great memories of Magic Johnson playing for the Spartans as well as being there when they won the National Championship in 2000. I'm a Big 10 guy, who's converting to the SEC. My wife, Joette and I love Nashville and so do our two pet Labrador retreivers. Email Dan at dphillips@fox17.com.

Miranda Cohen
Reporter
I now consider Nashville my home, having moved here from my native West Virginia. I graduated from the University of Charleston in Charleston, WV. While still in college, I got my first job in TV as weekend weathercaster at a station in Bluefield, WV. In March of 1997, my husband and I moved to Nashville and in November of that year, I joined the FOX 17 team. I consider the FOX family as a true extended family. Sometimes I still can't believe I work at such an exciting place. The best part of my job at FOX 17 is that I never know what my day will hold. One day I planned to do a story on a local sculptor and wound up flying in an F-16 fighter jet with the Air Force Thunderbirds. It was the thrill of a lifetime.
I also do weather, but my forte is entertainment reporting. I enjoy covering Nashville's entertainment business, from country stars to theater, the arts and of course, well-known personalities. When I'm not working, you can find me home gardening or enjoying my two cats. I'm also active in church and several organizations including "Christmas for Kids", the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Nashville Public Television. Finally, I'm an avid reader always looking for a good book. Non-fiction is my favorite because if I've learned one thing from my years of covering the news: the TRUTH is always much more interesting than fiction. If you'd like to drop me a line, feel free to email me at mcohen@fox17.com.

Erika Kurre
Reporter
Erika Kurre is a General Assignment Reporter for FOX 17 News, who covers a variety of issues and topics. She recently spent a great deal of time covering the tornadoes that struck Sumner and Macon counties and the damage they left behind. Erika also likes to bring viewers compelling and emotional people stories. A good example would be the story she did on a woman who has lived in an iron lung for more than half a century. Erika works hard to create stories that enlighten or inform our viewers.
Before coming to FOX 17, Erika was a weekend anchor and reporter in Alabama. She also interned at FOX affiliates in Washington, D.C. and St. Louis, so she's glad to be back in the FOX family.
Erika is a graduate of Malone College in Ohio and she won several AP awards in Alabama, including Best Reporting and Best News Anchor. She's also involved in several community organizations and would love to hear from you!

Cindy grew up on a farm in Louisiana and later graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. When she's not working on a story, you might see her performing with one of Nashville's comedy improvisation groups.
