WBFF Fox 45 :: Colton Dixon Talks About Debut Album
Season 11 American Idol finalist Colton Dison has a much different life
than he did just one year ago. He is now signed to a major Christian
label and rehearsing songs from his new album that he will sing while on
tour with Third Day

"All of this is all I've dreamed of doing. I
can't believe I am doing it so young. I figured it would take a while
but Idol provided a jump start I think" says Dixon, who wanted to do the
majority of writing for the album. "I just want others to know I'm
human and I've made mistakes and I talk about them in my songs."

Dixon wrote about 50 songs and then narrowed it down to these eleven.
Writing or co-writing all but one.

"The new record is a roller coaster from start to finish." says Dixon.

You will find worship songs like his single "You Are" and darker songs like "Scars". which was written from fan stories.

"I
felt like they needed to be heard but wanted to encourage them by
saying you can look at your scars and remember where you were and what
you were doing but you can know that scar has healed" says Dixon.

There
is even a song called "Never Gone" that was inspired by his time on
American Idol. "There was one time I felt disconnected from God and what
I was suppose to be doing because everything comes at you so fast"
explains Dixon.

The album closes with a song that's just Colton and the piano.
The exact place his dream to use his voice to witness began.

"God is first and foremost and I want people to know that. I want them to see God in me" says Dixon.
