American Idol
Lisa Marie Presley is following in the footsteps of her father and performing the Grand Ole Opry stage. Lisa sang a few songs off her new Americana album out called "Storm and Grace". Her father played the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman back on October 2, 1954. That was early in his career and he was not very well received and never performed there again. In a news conference, Presley admitted to being very nervous about this performance for that very reason, but says that Nashville's response has been warm and inviting. She also talked about the record, agreeing with many of the reviews that say she finally found her voice.
"I just needed to try a different outfit on and see what was best," says Presley. "I was at a place in life where I was vulnerable and ready to start over and it all happened very organically and naturally."
Lisa Marie compared her performance last night to when she sang LIVE on the AMERICAN IDOL stage in May. She said she didn't think she could be more nervous than she was that night, but definitely was, saying, after all, it is the Opry!
