American Idol's Colton Dixon received some hometown love Wednesday night. Murfreesboro had a huge public viewing party for him.

Everyone from former classmates, to neighbors, family members and even strangers, all gathered at Toot's wearing their Team Dixon shirts!
There was hardly any standing room as locals flocked to the local spot to watch idol and cheer him on.
His dad Mike was also in attendance. We've seen him in the idol audience week after week, but tonight he watched from home while surrounded by hundreds of fellow Colton fans!
This is a first for the idol dad, who has been in California every live show up until now.

"Words cant describe how amazing it's been to see both kids do so great on idol and see him on stage and doing what he loves. It's the most exciting thing I've ever had since I was married and when they were born" says Mike Dixon.

Dixon was sporting a new hair do tonight. Mike said he had only seen a picture of it. He says he loves it, Colton loves it and he hopes America does too.
