Murfreesboros Colton Dixon took the stage Wednesday night with a much anticipated new  hair do. On April Fools Day rumors were flying that the Idol favorite shaved his head! Obviously that is not true but he did change things up!

"I am still getting used to it myself. It's a big change". says Colton of his new blonde hair color.

Mentored by Gwen Stefani this week, Colton says that week after week things are only getting better and he's enjoying watching himself and the other contestants grow.

"Musically we grow everyday. Maybe it's just a habit in voice, working with the band, or our mannerisms. I can say that I've seen a difference in every contestant every day". says Colton.

Last week he didn't get the "standing o" he wanted from the judges, but did get high praise, in more ways than one!  Randy Jackson saying he could be a final contender in the competition!

"Honestly last week I was so hot in the moment of worshiping with that song that I barely even remember what the judges have to say. I really needed to let that song out of me onstage and glad I got the opportunity to do that". says Colton.

One of the biggest things that has happened to Colton since being on Idol is the abundance of love he's getting from christian artists. From Steven Curtis Chapman, to the the singer of Super Chick and Casting Crowns, the pastor from Winter Jam and many more, Colton is getting high praise from all the artists he's looked up to for years.

"To hear that from someone has encouraged me all these years it's so cool it's come full circle love it.  It's cool people know you and your name but you still have to stay grounded". says Colton.
