Idol Contestants Play as Well as Sing This Year

We all know American Idol is a singing competition, but something other than their singing may be keeping some of the singers around.

They are tickling the ivories and strumming chords and America seems to like what they hear.

We're talking about singing and playing a musical instrument.

It's harder to do, but it could make the contestants look and sound more like real musicians.

And it seems America agrees, four of the final six play an instrument.
