Health Care Vote Big For Both Sides-Sky Arnold
Warren White has been trying for years to get heath insurance for his employees at Pro Audio Solutions.
He says one thing has gotten in the way.
"The rates came back so incredibly high that my employers did not want it because it was too expensive and the company couldn't afford it," said White.
White is among those who believe the Health Care Reform Plan under consideration in the US House will help.
It creates a government run health care public option people can buy into.
The plan has gained support from national organizations like the AARP and the NAACP.
Evonne Tisdale with the NAACP says the plan will help low income people realize the possibility of health care.
"I think we have to look at this as being an investment, an investment in moving this country into an area where we hadn't been before where we have healthy communities," said Tisdale.
But not everyone sees it that way.
Justin Owen with think tank Tennessee Center For Policy Research says the cost is too much and the plan is unfair for traditional insurance companies.
"Anytime you have a public entity competing with the private sector they're operating to an unfair advantage. An example of that is the umpire stepping up to the plate to hit but still calling balls and strikes," said Owen.
The US House is expected to vote on the plan in Saturday.Health Care Vote Big For Both Sides-Sky Arnold
