Mother, Boyfriend Charged with Child Abuse
Metro Police arrested the mother of a 3-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy who were both severely beaten.
Police say the mother, 27 year old Elizabeth Messick, and her boyfriend, 31 year old Chad Viney, admitted beating the 3-year-old with a belt because she would not eat her dinner.
The 8-year-old was also repeatedly struck.
Both children were treated at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital and released into the custody of the Department of Childrens Services.
Messick and Viney are each charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse.
